It was an atmosphere of praise and glamour as erudite scholars, political chieftains, business leaders, family and friends and well wishers gathered to celebrate with Akanbi Oke family as Alhaja Muheeba, wife of Alhaji Muftau Akanbi Oke, held her special pilgrimage prayer, popularly known as Ajoyo, at Ode-Oke Compound, Omoda area, Ilorin.
Hajj in Islam, the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim must make at least once in his or her lifetime. The hajj is the fifth of the fundamental Muslim practices and institutions known as the Five Pillars of Islam. It is incumbent on all Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the pilgrimage, but only if their absence will not place hardships on their family.
“Anyone that performs Hajj for ALLAH’s pleasure and avoids all forms of sin will return free from all sins, similar to as he was on his birth day,” (Sahih Bukhari and Muslim). The sacred act of Hajj motivates Muslims to do good deeds by polishing their consciences and enhancing their moral senses. It plays a vital role in rebuilding the foundation of purity, honesty, and integrity in the heart of every individual, encouraging a righteous and positive Muslim society.
The prayer session was a beehive of prayers and praises to glorify the Almighty Allah for granting the pilgrim the strength and grace to perform the hajj rites. The prayer led by Imam Sheikh Muhammad Saheed Olohundakun brought several individuals from all walks of life to identify with Alhaji Muftau Akanbi Oke.
