It’s the 43rd birthday of the Chairman, Salman Shagaya Foundation, Alh. Sheriff Shagaya. A remarkable individual. A man whose generosity, compassion and selflessness have touched the lives of countless households. As we honour Sheriff Shagaya for his continuous generosity, we must recognize the astute humility that stands him out among equals.
In the world of a thousand Sheriffs; I know of one exceptional Sheriff. The family, friends, political folks and associates call him “the Seven Star General”. Alhaji Sheriff Shagaya, from a young age, has shown a deep empathy for others, and an innate understanding of the importance of giving back to society. No doubt, he’s genuinely from the source. He knows where his people’s shoes pinch. He remains firmly grounded, always eager to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate.
Sir Sheriff Shagaya generosity knows no boundaries. The public, most especially the residents of Kwara state are not unaware of his educational support initiative which gives hope to students of average parents and also infrastructural development to schools. Presentation of furniture, electronic gadgets and borehole to Sholagberu LGEA School, Ilorin is not too far at our sight.
Through the Salman Shagaya Foundation, one of the foremost nongovernmental organizations in Kwara state; Alh. Sheriff Shagaya become synonymous to an individual with the free distribution of solar power across various households and solar streetlights in the sixteen local governments of Kwara state and Asa/Ilorin West in particular. Underserved communities are provided with opportunities for sustainable development and essential healthcare services.
Aside from generosity, what sets the popular 7Star General apart is his humility. He channels his efforts into making a real difference. A truly humble man with a heart of gold, selfless and unconditional charitable acts.
His endless love for humanity appears in the relationships he has built over the years. Talk of colleagues, friends, family and admirers, they all hold Shagaya in the highest regard. He’s an inspiration to all, encouraging us to strive for excellence while keeping our humility.
On this special day, I applaud your sacrifice to making the world a better place for the less fortunate. May Allah continues to be your building light as you keep illuminating the path of generosity and compassion for generations to come.
